L.A. WORRELL
Infors HT collaborated with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) to enhance the user experience of their bioreactor management tools. The project, managed by Dr. Prof. Doris Agotai, aimed to modernize and unify the user interface across both software and hardware platforms. The two key tools in focus were: Infors HT Genesis Suite: A software suite designed for managing and monitoring bioreactor experiments, replacing the outdated IRIS 6.0 system. Minifors Bioreactor UI: An embedded interface for the Minifors bioreactor, requiring a more user-friendly and visually clear design for on-device experiment tracking. The goal was to ensure a consistent and modern visual language across both platforms while improving usability for laboratory professionals.

Infors HT Genesis Suite
The Problem
Infors HT needed a modern, user-friendly software suite to manage and control bioreactor experiments. Their existing system, IRIS 6.0, lacked usability and visual clarity, making experiment setup and monitoring inefficient. The tool needed to support different user roles, provide real-time data insights, and maintain consistency across multiple devices while aligning with the Infors brand identity.
The Solution
I led the UX and UI design for the Infors HT Genesis Suite, ensuring an intuitive and scalable platform optimized for desktop and tablet use. The design included:
Dashboard-centric navigation with customizable widgets for role-based user experiences.
Streamlined experiment workflows (1-Click, Single, and Multiple Experiments) to reduce complexity.
Live trendlines and real-time monitoring for better data visibility.
Soft sensors and audit trails to enhance compliance and analytical capabilities.
A cohesive visual language, tying the UI to Infors’ branding while modernizing the overall experience.
The design was validated with key users from major biotech firms (Roche, Novartis, Empa, ETH), ensuring it met industry needs. The outcome was a highly efficient, data-driven interface that replaced IRIS 6.0 and became the foundation for future Infors software modules.
Minifors Bioreactor UI
The Problem
Infors wanted to improve the on-device UI for the Minifors bioreactor, ensuring experiment data was clear and easy to navigate on a small embedded screen. The existing interface lacked visual hierarchy and clarity, making it challenging for users to track and adjust experiments efficiently.
The Solution
I redesigned the Minifors UI, focusing on:
Optimized data visualization for a small screen, ensuring readability and intuitive navigation.
Consistent design language with the Infors HT Genesis Suite for a seamless user experience across software and hardware.
Enhanced visual hierarchy to prioritize key experiment data and alerts.
Modernized front end, aligning with Infors’ brand identity while improving usability.
By unifying the visual language between HT Genesis Suite and Minifors, I helped Infors modernize their digital and hardware interfaces, creating a more intuitive and visually cohesive experience for their users.
