The Spectrometer / Telescope for Imaging X-rays (STIX) is an X-ray telescope that makes images and spectra of solar explosions called flares. It is one of the 10 instruments on board the ESA spacecraft Solar Orbiter.

A more straight forward, visual revamp to an already existing tool, I was asked to build out some screens to improve readability and hierarchy of information in a short timespan.
The Problem
Users of the tool complained about a confusing interface and low readability. Especially when dealing with complex data from the solar orbiter. Button text was also sporadically confusing, so I tested new wording to aid clarity.
The Solution
I provided a new visual language without changing much of the core functionality of the tool. Since I was a native english speaker I adapted button text and wording where I or users expressed confusion.
